Joseph Bruchac

Joseph Bruchac

Joseph Bruchac lives in the Adirondack mountain foothills town of Greenfield Center, New York. Much of his writing draws on that land and his Native American ancestry. He continues to work extensively in projects involving the preservation of Abenaki culture. His works include many titles related to the Central Appalachian Cherokee Indians. He holds degrees from Cornell University, Syracuse University and the Union Institute of Ohio.

“If there is one way that I would want to remembered it would be as a voice for the people rather than as one who spoke for himself. Whatever gifts I've been given have been given to me for a reason. No matter how much I give back, it could never be enough."

Joseph Bruchac, quoted from  Dresang, Eliza T. "An Interview with Joseph Bruchac." Cooperative Children's Book Center. University of Wisconsin-Madison, n.d. Web. 02 July 2014.
