This program rewards kids for reading (or being read to) during the summer. Once kids reach their reading goal, they receive an awesome rewards package!
- Readers read for 20 hours.
Readers can join the Passport Program and substitute up to 5 hours of reading with enrichment adventures! Ages 4-11
- Those not quite reading yet listen to 40 books being read to them. Infant - age 5

There is no required book list for Summer Library Club, but if you'd like some suggestions to get started, download our Summer Reading Book List, with lots of super titles for kids ages 0-12. Print a copy for your family, or peruse it on screen before you hit the library this summer!
Summer Reading storytimes & enrichment programs
To keep kids rockin' this summer, Knox County Public Library is offering over 100 groovy programs featuring: The Story of Ferdinand from Cattywampus Puppet Council, Zoo Knoxville, kid-friendly chemist Dr. Al Hazari, magician Michael Messing, building and making discoveries with LEGOs, Shakespeare for Kids, The Muse, Humane Society, Dollywood's Penguin Players in Pretend, and other amazing programs. NEW! Attending one of these programs is eligible for reading credit! Participate in the Passport Program and substitute up to 5 programs for 5 hours of reading.
Summer Reading rewards
After meeting your reading goals, return your log to any branch between June 4 and July 31 to redeem your prize pack! Prizes include a big hair rubber ducky (ages 0-4) or an electric guitar water game (ages 5-11) and a rewards book. Styles may vary.
