This program rewards kids for reading (or being read to) during the summer. Once kids reach their reading goal, they receive an awesome rewards package!
- Readers read for 20 hours.
Readers can join the Passport Program and substitute up to 5 hours of reading with enrichment adventures! Ages 4-11
- Those not quite reading yet listen to 40 books being read to them. Infant - age 5

Need some help getting started?
There is no required book list for Summer Library Club, but if you'd like some suggestions to get started, download our Summer Reading Book List, with lots of super titles for kids ages 0-12. Print a copy for your family, or peruse it on screen before you hit the library this summer! Book List coming soon!
Summer Reading storytimes & enrichment programs
To keep kids on track this summer, Knox County Public Library is offering over 100 SUPER programs such as Zoo Knoxville, kid-friendly chemist Dr. Al Hazari, magician Michael Messing, storytellers Sparky and Rhonda Rucker, and Dollywood's Penguin Players in Pretend. NEW! Attending one of these programs is eligible for a Summer Reading challenge point! (Substitute for 1 hour of reading.)
Summer Reading rewards
After meeting your reading goals, return your log to any branch between June 6 and July 31 to redeem your prize pack! Prizes include a rubber ducky (ages 0-4) or build-it-yourself house plans (ages 5-11) and a rewards book. The children's rewards book is filled with vouchers for $200 worth of treats and adventures.
