Tennessee State Library's traveling book mobile

The exhibit "Reading Appalachia: Voices of Children’s Literature" now open at the East Tennessee History Center includes vintage children's toys, clothing, and an original 1950s miniature replica of the Tennessee State Library's traveling book mobile. This library-on-wheels traveled throughout the state delivering books to small communities without a brick and mortar public library. See the real bus in action in this excerpt from The common heritage, produced during the 1950s by Knoxville filmmaker Sam Orleans.
