We Read Y.A. goes west

Join We Read Y.A. on Wednesday, February 28 at 5:00 at West High School for a discussion of Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed.
We are excited to announce the continuation of the "We Read Y.A." book club this spring, but with a new setting (West High School) and a new goal. The club will take a social action focus. Club members—which can include teens, teachers, librarians, school administrators and other interested readers—will read YA novels that inspire social change, and then plan, develop, and implement a positive school/community-based service project inspired by the novels. Our discussions will be led by Susan Groenke, award-winning professor and director of the Center for Children's and Young Adult Literature, and West High School English teacher Stacey Reece. Snacks will be provided.
Nowhere Girls is a gritty and empowering book for teens who want to speak their own truth. Embracing the culture that gave rise to the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, this book acknowledges intersectional feminism and the need for teens to establish themselves as individuals.
