I don't know how good my review on this book will be considering I have only read a grand total of four sci-fi novels in my life. But for what my opinion is worth, here it is.
I did enjoy this novel. For those who have read any of Shannon Hale's books before, you will find this entirely different from her usual fare. I had to check her bio in the back to make sure this was the same Shannon Hale. But it's beautifully written. Because she didn't put herself in an ancient, fairy tale time frame, she was able to use a lot of good, modern phrases and mannerisms. For me, that was the best part about the book.
As far as the plot goes, I think it's your traditional sci-fi novel. Aliens are trying to take over the world, some special "tokens" are given to the humans, and the protagonist is the only one who can save the day.
Another thing I loved about it was it's humor. If a book can make me laugh, it has it's hooks in me for certain. For me, there were certainly some laugh out loud moments. But if you ask any of my friends, they will tell you I have a very weird sense of humor. So it might just have been me.
Oh, and for anyone who cares about this sort of thing (I know they are few and far between), there are a couple racy scenes. I mean, they made me uncomfortable.
So, in conclusion, I think "Dangerous" would be a very satisfying and addicting read to anyone who enjoys (or maybe even doesn't enjoy) the science fiction genre.
