The Book Behind My Story welcomes Brent Waugh

Join Brent Waugh, Chief Executive Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee, in a discussion of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho on February 28, 6:00–7:00 at Lawson McGhee Library.

Coelho's masterpiece tells the mystical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure. His quest will lead him to riches far different—and far more satisfying—than he ever imagined. Santiago's journey teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, of recognizing opportunity and learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, most importantly, to follow our dreams.

Waugh has been at the helm of Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee for nearly a year, and in that time the agency was named a Pinnacle Award winner by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America for excellence in program delivery and fund development. Previously, he worked in marketing and communications roles at Northwestern University and at Colorado State University. Waugh received a master’s degree in communications from the University of Tennessee.

Thanks to a generous donation from Friends of the Knox County Library, free copies of the book are available at the Lawson McGhee Library. Copies are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
