On October 13, 2019, Knox County Public Library’s LitUp Festival will illuminate downtown Knoxville with a full day of free activities and events exploring creativity and critical thinking.
Kick-off begins at 1 p.m. on the Market Square stage, followed by keynote speakers Kimberly Jones and Gilly Segal at the East Tennessee History Center at 1:15. Stop by the Information tent on Market Square to pick up a festival map and schedule from 1- 7 p.m. Be one of the first 500 pre-registered and win a free LitUp tote bag!
For teens, by teens
Guided by a committee of students (meet the teens!) from schools across Knox County, programs, authors and events for the Festival have been shaped and developed by the next generation. Teens will lead discussions, facilitate panels, teach workshops and more. Join the Advisory Board if you'd like to get involved! (Must be ages 14-18.)
ORNL's Traveling Science Fair
Carnival-style trailers provide hands-on explorations of various fields of research and areas of future career opportunities, from nuclear power to solar energy and 3D printing.
Entertainment and teen talent
More cool stuff to do!
Participate in an escape room, literary scavenger hunt, ghost tour, street poetry, career speed-dating, and more. Friends of the Library will host a used book sale, where most items are $2 or less!
Brilliant author lineup
Talented authors of fantasy, contemporary fiction, historical fiction, poetry, and more meet fans and share insight into their craft with writing workshops, panel discussions, and book signings. We are thrilled to be joined by keynote speakers Kimberly Jones and Gilly Segal.
