Jinx Stapleton Watson

photo of Jinx Stapleton WatsonJinx Watson spent 44 years working in the fields of public schools and libraries in Massachusetts and in Tennessee. For 33 of those years, she taught primary grades, became an administrator, and served as an adjunct professor in many colleges, teaching children’s literature. For the next 11 years of her career, she became a tenured associate professor of youth services at UT Knoxville where her dream of teaching teachers and librarians-to-be occupied her full and undivided attention!

Jinx is a founding member of the Blue Ribbon Book Selection Committee for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. She was also an early advisor to Knox County Public Library’s Children’s Festival of Reading. She was a co-founder of UT Knoxville’s Center for Children’s and Young Adult Literature, whose mission is to engage and empower young readers through quality contemporary children’s and young adult literature.

Her children and grandchildren continue to serve as great laboratories for her passion in children’s books!

Many thanks to our generous partners:
