Read City USA Tails and Tales
Join a community-wide challenge to read one million hours in 2021.

This year, join Mayor Jacobs and Read City USA in our million hour reading expedition—Tails and Tales. Discover the diversity of animal life on our planet and the wonder of storytelling. You'll earn prizes and recognition for yourself and our community!

Hours logged in the expedition also count towards this year's Summer Adventure, where you'll earn even more rewards!

Let's get started

Tails and Tales Field Guide cover and sample maze activityPick up your Tails and Tales Field Guide at any Library location. Read your way through the habitats of the animal kingdom and complete fun bonus activities like a maze, crossword, and animal track matching.

Every 10 hours you read, collect a new habitat sticker for your Field Guide! Tails and Tales badges and sample animal tracks activity

Prefer to log online? Paw-some! You'll earn digital badges and can still collect your stickers and completion prize whenever you'd like. To log on your mobile device, download the Beanstack Tracker app and select Knox County Tennessee Library. Register for the Tails and Tales challenge.

Don't need any incentive to read? That's grrrrreat! You can print a log or pick one up anytime. Return it and we'll record your time so our community can get closer to our million-hour goal

Any reading logged after May 23 counts toward your Summer Adventure goal!

What are the prizes?

We're glad you asked! Every 10 hours read, collect a habitat sticker badge (shown below). When you've finished, kids earn a goody bag of animal-themed prizes. Teens and adults earn a discovery journal. Earn even more rewards when you complete the Summer Adventure
