Imagination Library is giving away its 2 millionth book!
Help us celebrate by raising 2 million pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters! Use your imagination and artistic talents to create a “piggy bank” that will put books in the hands of Knox County’s youngest children. Kids, families, day cares, scout groups, church groups, and businesses of all sizes are encouraged to participate. Prizes will be awarded to the most creative coin banks, as well as to the bank that raises the most spare change.
It's fun and easy to participate

Decorating Your Bottle
Get your glue gun ready and use your crazy imaginations to turn an ordinary water container into a money making machine! Extra points will be awarded to banks that help promote the theme of early literacy. We encourage participants to match their banks to a favorite book.
If you or your team needs space to create, The Basement Community Art Studio can host your group and provide the supplies needed to decorate one bottle for $15. (Please note your bottle should be pre-primed if you wish to paint it.)

Judging & Showcase
Sunday, September 20 from 2:00 - 4:00
at the Knoxville Museum of Art
Join us to see your neighbors' creativity and imaginations at work. You will be thrilled, charmed, and inspired by Banks to Books creations. Our panel of judges will choose their favorites in each of the four divisions (Juniors, Individuals or Families, Groups or Businesses, and Professional Artists), but you will get to choose the People's Choice Award.
There will also be prizes, entertainment, children's activities, refreshments, and the presentation of our 2 millionth book!
The goal of Banks for Books is to help Imagination Library provide a book in the mail every month to Knox County children under the age of 5. Each entry should be designed to accept spare change. The easier it is to get change in the bank, the more change we can collect, and the more books we can provide to our children. The team that collects the most money will win a grand prize!
Donations buy books. Period.
Participants can be proud to know that their donations will be used exclusively to put books in the hands of Knox County children. Knox County Public Library covers all adminstrative costs of the Imagination Library program in Knox County.
Home Federal Cash-In
Thanks to our sponsor, Home Federal Bank, the cash-in process will be a blast! In early December, Home Federal will help us collect and count the change in their handy coin counters. They will certify the amount from each team, and we will announce the winners and award prizes mid-December.
