This book... is a little wacky, to say it plainly. Basically, it's about a girl who has to write letters to famous, dead people for an English assignment. But plot twist! The girl is depressed because her sister died a year before and gets super obsessed writing these letters. The book (other than the epilogue) is made up entirely of these letters to various, dead celebrities like Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse. Younger readers may have no clue about who they are or how influential they were. The book also has sub-plots: the main character Laurel's new, bad-apple friends are trouble, and her mysterious crush may have a connection to her dead sister. Overall, if you are not a quirky teen with an appreciation of 90s pop culture, you will not enjoy this book.
