To My Cats Whom I Hate Dearly: A poem for all of the cat people in the world // by Lilly S. (April 2019)

Poetry

To my cats whom I hate dearly,
Why must you be so mean?

You kill all of my plants.
You ruin all of my clothes.
Seriously, Just stop it, please.
I’m begging you. I don’t like doing laundry.

To my cats whom I hate dearly,
Stop stealing all my food.

I can’t even turn around.
If I do, for even just a second,
I might as well wish my dinner good-bye.

To my cats whom I hate dearly,
Stop sitting on my face when I’m asleep.

It’s not comfortable for either of us,
So why in the world do you do it?

Are you trying to kill me?
I honestly wouldn’t put it past you.

To my cats whom I hate dearly,
Life would definitely be easier without you.

But then, it wouldn’t be as fun.

To my cats whom I hate dearly,
I guess you’re not too bad.
