Waters // by Ophelia B. (July 2020)

The waters are angry tonight
They scream and froth and bite
The tide rolls in like acid
Devouring each living, breathing soul in sight.

They miss their moon
They miss their love--
They’ve lost their aim among the
ripples and lift their currents above.

I feel like the waters tonight,
My love far gone, as well
I look for this love like
Ships caught caught in that dangerous swell.

I lay along the shore, now
My love a distant wave
It travels along with the current
Its destination: a nearby bay.
